Photo Gallery: INSECT PESTS OF Turfgrass

Most insect pests of turfgrass feed by chewing or sucking specific parts of turfgrass, but some are soil distruptors. Chinch bugs suck on the crowns, grubs chew the roots, and armyworms and sodworms, both caterpillars, feed by chewing foliage. Fire ants and mole crickets are soil distruptors.  However, some mole crickets feed on insect pests.
